Mysql jdbc execute update auto increment6/16/2023 ![]() ![]() Mark Matthews I just tried this on my machine (w/ 5.1.6, and 5.0.51 on the mac and also with 5.0.45 on gutsy) and I get the following, expected exception in both cases: `id` int(11) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment,Īn "insert into test (field) values ('works')" query just works fine.īut if I add a new DATETIME field not null and execute same query above just hangs on a executeUpdate _(Īfter this setup, executeUpdate() has no response: My server version is: 5.0.45-Debian_1ubuntu3.1-log Also tested on JDBC driver version 5.0.8 and same behaviour as the lastest version. Please look at 'How to repeat' to understand better. This strange behaviour is all about 'Statement.executeUpdate' hanging or not returning (or raising any exception) in a long time in a INSERT query (i didn't try on a REPLACE or UPDATE query). ![]() I really don't know how to categorize this behaviour, but it made me loose a lot of hours debugging my java application, and since no 'xyz'Exception was raised and connection was still up (looking at netstat), I thought this may be a bug or, at least, something is not working as expected.
